Cards for Evelynn

Our students have been learning about giving.  In keeping with our discussions, we learned of an opportunity to give to a young girl.  A young girl named Evelynn will be in the hospital during the holidays, and her mother is hoping to cheer her by asking for 1000 Christmas cards for Evelynn!  Each student in our class created a beautiful card for Evelynn, and Mrs. Neville (one of our Grade 1 teachers) will be forwarded our cards to Evelynn.  Our students displayed amazing compassion and caring during our discussion about Evelynn.  Way to go class!

Our Giving Tree

We have changed our fabric tree in the hall from a Peace Tree at Remembrance Day to a Giving Tree for the holidays.  We asked our students to think of something they could give to someone else - a twist on asking for something for themselves.  Our students responded in a beautiful way - sharing so many wonderful ideas for what they could give to those in need.  We have posted photos of some of their gift ideas below.  Enjoy!

Learning Centre Time

Felt Board Centre

We have moved our felt board centre from a hidden corner of our classroom to a much better location.  And now that felt board has a better home, we have seen a lot more activity at this centre.  Two of our students asked us to take a photo of their work recently.

Light Table Creativity

We recently opened our light table centre, and this photo shows one of the first masterpieces!  Two of our students created this amazing light table display using coloured glass beads, Linking People and our new light table numbers.  It's hard to see the number 17 but they counted the number of people around the circle and placed a 17 in the middle. Great work!
