Spring Flower Art

Our students always enjoy learning about new art techniques, and using materials in new and different ways.  We decided to create spring gardens using paint and forks to make the flowers.

Some of our students volunteered to make signs for our spring display.

Spring has Sprung!

A few of our spring is... signs from our fabric tree in the hall.
Spring is when flowers bloom.

Spring is when you go outside a lot.

Spring is when I go bike riding.

Spring is when I play games outside.

Spring is when the birds come back.

Spring is running in the grass in my bare feet.

Spring is splashing in the puddles.

Spring is going to the pond.

Brice Marden Art

Our students learned about the artist Brice Marden today.  We learned about his biography, and we were inspired to create art in his minimalist style.  We looked at his painting entitled, "Richard's Muse", and we created our own versions using string and paint.  Our Kindergarten artists did an amazing job!

World Water Day!

Our students enjoyed celebrating World Water Day.  World Water Day is celebrated around the world to highlight the importance of clean drinking water and sustainable use of the world's water.  Our students read a story about water, watched a short video about the ways they can help, learned about the water cycle, learned about the difference between salt water and fresh water and signed a World Water Day pledge.  We were so proud of their learning.  Be sure to ask your child where water comes from.  We learned that water doesn't come, it goes.  It goes around in the water cycle.  Some of our students thought that water would come from a water machine, but learned that we need to keep it clean because we can't get new water.

Spring Gardens Grow!

Thank you so much for the donations of play dough for our spring garden play dough centre!  The students were very excited to see the "dirt" arrive for their creations.  Our gardeners have been very busy working at the centre thanks to your generous donations.
