Lilac Art

Our new bulletin board display.
We posted our lilac art on the bulletin board in the hallway outside our classroom.  It only took a few moments before the first compliment was given about our wonderful art!  Throughout the day, we received many, many, many compliments!  Our students were so proud.

We asked our students to use their senses as they created their art.  We used our sense of sight to draw the lilacs, and we used our sense of smell to write words to describe the scent of the lilacs.
Photos of a few student art samples.

Our New Light Table

We would like to thank the SCC for our new light table.  We have added the light table to our science centre.  We look forward to the addition of a variety of light table toys and equipment in the weeks and months ahead.  We are currently using animal x-rays to learn more about animals. We had been learning about the "Outstanding Outsides" of animals, and we are now learning about animal skeletons.

 Our Heart Maps
We challenged our students to think about the things they love the most.  We introduced them to maps by showing a variety of maps used for many purposes.  One of the maps we studied was a heart map.  We asked this question: If we could see inside your heart, what would we find there?  The students created a plan of their heart map, then transferred their drawings to their map.  The results were amazing!  Parents can watch for this art to be included in your child's art portfolio.

Hydrangea Art at Craft Centre

Following up after we created our bubble print art inspired by hydrangeas, we move our hydrandgea to craft centre.  We added oil pastels as a new medium, and half sheets of white papers.  We were thrilled with the number of little artists who choose to spend time at this centre!  Our students are so creative, and inspire us with their interest in all things creative!  Way to go artists!

Welcome Spring!

Our students enjoyed creating their hydranea art recently.  We welcomed spring by creating a very springy inspired work of art using paint, water and liquid dish soap.  We blew bubbles in our mixture, and created a bubble print by placing the paper on top of the bubbles.  The results were amazing!  Our students have received many compliments from staff and students!
