Math Tub Time!

The students in our class enjoy creating, exploring and experimenting with the math tubs.  The pictures below show some of the ways we can use our tubs.  We can sort.  We can count.  We can build structures.  We can create patterns.  We can graph using math mats.  We can make shape pictures.  We can use our imaginations!

Pass the Purse

In a previous monthly calendar, I mentioned a language game entitled, "Pass the Purse."  It has taken longer than I thought to find time to introduce this fun game to my students.  We will be playing the game on Wednesday, and then I encourage you to play it with your child at home.  Place a variety of items in a "purse".  Sing the song and pass the purse between the players.  When the song ends, the person left holding the purse selects an item.   The child needs to tell the beginning sound of the item (JK) or attempt to write the name of the item. Colour Mixing Art!

On Friday afternoon, our students used the information they had learned about colour mixing to create a masterpiece.  They used the primary colours - red, yellow, and blue - to create art using a folded piece of construction paper.  I'm adding photos of the art on the blog.  Enjoy!
